FAIRNES DOCTRINE
Or how to stuff Democrat’s Platitudes down People’s Throat!

This is not going to be too complicated, I promise.
If you don’t know what the “Fairness Doctrine” is all about, it is a way for Democrats to force their voices and platitudes on radio in par with Republican or conservative talk radio. You should know that the Democrat’s attempt is an impossible, illegal and panic-laden attempt to quell conservative voices and ideas. Beyond that, it is just wrong for government to tell you how to run your business. I’ll explain:
Let’s say I own a radio station and have to program shows 24 hours a day, seven days, for twelve months. I need to know what shows would garner me the most listeners so that I can charge advertisers accordingly, and of course make money. OK so far?
So I program a “Conservative” talk show at 9 a.m. every morning. And then I program a “Liberal” talk show at 3 p.m. Both times slots by the way are optimum spots for radio.
It doesn’t take me long to figure out that the 9 a.m. show averages 800,000 listeners per day, while the 3 p.m. show averages 125,000 listeners pay day.
My children could figure out this conundrum. But I decide to tackle it:
I take the 3 p.m. show and move the “Liberal” host to another time slot and put another “Conservative” host in its place.
That 3 p.m. time slot now averages 650,000 listeners per day. I put the “Liberal” talk show at 6 p.m., a wonderful drive-time slot, with lots of people in bumper-to-bumper traffic, trying to get home. The “Lib” show averages slightly better, approximately 212,000 listeners per day, but still not high enough to command better advertising rates like the others. So once again I move the “Liberal” show to a 6 a.m. slot, also a good time-slot with people driving to work. At the same time, in the 6 p.m. slot, I place yet another provocative “Conservative” talk show host. In just a few weeks, I realize that the new show is averaging almost 700,000 listeners, while the show at 6 a.m. has dropped to a mere 57,960 listeners per day.
At my quarterly stock holders meeting, we review the numbers and we agree that my radio station should become an all-conservative radio station. Within months, every show and re-run of shows that we have programmed, is knocking every other competition in town. We are billing huge numbers for advertising. Our listenership is now the best that there is in Los Angeles. Revenues are great and my stockholders are delighted.
That’s exactly what happened years ago with one of our big radio stations in Los Angeles.
TODAY’S MOOD - Now the Democrats, who are in power and who want to control everything because as Nancy Pelosi said, “We won, you guys lost,” they want my radio station to balance its talk show programming with equal parts of the Democrat’s viewpoints.
So I must argue.” Am I to lose revenue with “Liberal” shows for the sake of fair and balance programming? Wrong! I won’t do it and I’ll fight that to the Supreme Court and probably win.
A SOLUTION: On the other hand, here’s the way I would do it. I’d program a “Liberal” radio talk show if the host or the Democratic Party would buy the time-slot they want (a slot that I can spare only), paying me an equal amount that my radio station has been earning among all shows.  Then I would announce prior to the show’s opening that this is a paid-program show, paid by the Democratic Party. Hey, that’s fair! They get their time slot, I get my money, everyone is happy. I don’t have to worry whether they have 100 listeners or 100,000.

And that's the name of that tune!

DELAYED BUT NOT DISCOURAGED

This past Tuesday I was told that before we can cut down the old, dead trees at and near the City Park’s waterfall, we have to wait for the Beautification Commission to approve it and that will be sometime in April.
